As news broke on Friday that Melbourne would head into a snap lockdown to contain an outbreak of COVID-19, Serena Williams was already on court at the Australian Open playing potentially her last match in front of crowds at the tournament. Australian Open , Day 4 : Who's In , Who's Out

 Aussie Open Day 4 : Defending Champion Sofia Kenin ejected from the draw; Divij , Ankita out from the doubles. by Tushar Banerjee Defending Champion Out of Tournament. Defending Champion, Sofia Kenin removed from the draw of Australian Open 2021 in the Second round after a 6-3 6-2 loss to Estonian, Kaia Kanepi. After a First round win , in the press conference , she talked about how nervous she was defending a major title for the first time.   Kenin was nearly weeping during a changeover towards the end of the match. The fourth seeded American only had 10 winners in the match , while commiting a sloppy 22 unforced errors. Barty Through to third-round.
